National history of English football
The oldest team in the history of world football was formed at the same time as Scotland. The first match between England and Scotland took place on March 5, 1870 at Hamilton Crescent in Scotland.
In 1906, England joined FIFA and played their first match against countries other than the home nations in 1908.
