Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, revealing that the ongoing Ranji Trophy season will mark his final one. I’m honored to represent Bengal one final time, playing only in the Ranji Trophy before I retire. Born on October 24, 1984, in Siliguri, West Bengal, Saha started playing first-class cricket for Bengal in 2007. In his domestic career, he played 138 matches, scoring 7,013 runs with an average of 41.74. He hit 14 centuries and 43 half-centuries, with his best score being 203 not out. His wicketkeeping skills stood out, as he took 336 catches and made 38 stumpings.
Saha’s international career began in 2010 when he debuted in a Test match against South Africa. Over 11 years, he represented India in 40 Tests, scoring 1,353 runs at an average of 29.41, including three centuries and six fifties. Behind the stumps, he secured 92 catches and 12 stumpings. He also featured in nine One Day Internationals (ODIs) for India.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Saha was a reliable player. He played 170 matches for different teams, including Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Titans. In 2014, he made history by becoming the first player to score a century in an IPL final, scoring an unbeaten 115 for Kings XI Punjab.
